We Love Clean Rivers
We Love Clean Rivers (WLCR) is dedicated to cleaning high-use rivers by uniting the river recreation community and partnering with local environmental, recreation, and educational orgnaizations. By mobilizing kayakers, rafters, scuba divers and tubers to clean waterways, WLCR aims to broaden engagement with river restoration activities, increase the receation community's understanding of threats to watershed health, and provide unique and fun opportunities to give back to the public lands and waterways used for recreation. WLCR's annual 300 person volunteer team has retrieved over 40,000 lbs of trash from the Clackamas River over the past eight years.
Through community education and year-round support for local policy changes directed at waste reduction and waste management along recreation corridors, WLCR seeks to eliminate the need for annual clean up events altogether.
