Thomas Cook
My ultimate goal with my work is to create paintings which prompt the viewer to personally decipher whether the images depicted are simple abstractions from life, or if they tell a story. When a viewer can return to a painting and find a new experience, I find that is the ultimate measure of a work’s success. Layering, outlining, overlapping, and transparency are all elements I use as the vocabulary of a painting, while my subject matter ranges from the human and animal form to inanimate objects such as bridges.
